Products made with brown sugar (kokuto) are very popular on Amami island, where the Nishihira Honke Distillery (Group of Hamada Distillery) is located (especially the kokuto shochu that is produced with it). Immediately after pouring, the gorgeous aroma of brown sugar and oak cask emits from the glass. It is characterized by a sweetness that slips gently across the entire tongue, leaving a deep taste.
